Terms & Conditions

The following are terms of a legal agreement between you and Computer Specialist Investigators. By accessing, browsing and/or using anything on this site and the server it’s hosted on, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the terms below and to comply with all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use this site.

1. Authorisation
The client authorises Computer Specialist Investigators to evaluate and to provide a quotation on their computer(s). No work upon evaluation will be carried out without client approval.

The client authorises Computer Specialist Investigators, its employees, and agents, to receive and transport this media/equipment/data to, from and between their facilities.
2. Legal Rights
The client is the legal owner or authorised representative of the legal owner of the property and all data and components contained therein sent to or picked up by Computer Specialist Investigators.
Any property left with Computer Specialist Investigators unclaimed for 90 days, will be disposed. At which time, Computer Specialist Investigators shall have no liability to the client or any third party.
3. Limited Liability
Computer Specialist Investigators shall not be liable for any claims regarding the physical functioning of equipment/media or the condition or existence of data on storage media supplied before, during or after service.
In no event will Computer Specialist Investigators be liable for any damage to the laptop/desktop, loss of data, loss of revenue or profits, or any special, incidental, contingent, or consequential damages, however caused, before, during or after service even if Computer Specialist Investigators has been advised of the possibility of damages or loss to persons or property. Computer Specialist Investigators liability of any kind with respect to the services, including any negligence on its part, shall be limited to the contract price for the services.
The client and Computer Specialist Investigators agree that the sole and exclusive remedy for unsatisfactory work or data shall be, at Computer Specialist Investigators option, additional attempts by Computer Specialist Investigators to recover satisfactory data or refund of the amount paid by the client. The parties acknowledge that the price of Computer Specialist Investigators services would be much greater if Computer Specialist Investigators undertook more extensive liability.
The client is aware of the inherent risks of injury and property damage involved in laptop/desktop repair, including without limitation, risks due to destruction or damage to the machine, media, or data and inability to repair the machine or recover data, including those that may result from the negligence of Computer Specialist Investigators, and assumes any and all known risks of injury and property damage that may result.
4. Confidentiality
Computer Specialist Investigators agrees not to disclose any and all information or data files supplied with, stored on, or recovered from client's equipment except to employees or contractors representing Computer Specialist Investigators subject to confidentiality agreements or as required by law.
5. Payment
Payment is due in full upon completion of successful repair, prior to release of the repaired machine (whether shipped, or picked up), unless by special previous arrangement. Overdue invoices may incur further charges to chase up payment.
If the customer defaults in payment by the due date of any amount payable to Computer Specialist Investigators, Computer Specialist Investigators may, without prejudice to any other right or remedy available to it:-
(a) charge the customer interest on any sum due at the rate of 2% above the corporate reference rate of Computer Specialist Investigators’s principal banker. This interest shall be calculated daily and compounded every 30 days for the period from the due date until the date of payment in full; and
(b) charge the customer for all expenses and costs (including debt collection commission and fees, legal costs on a full indemnity basis and dishonoured cheque fees) suffered or incurred by Computer Specialist Investigators resulting from the default and in Computer Specialist Investigators taking whatever action it deems appropriate to recover any amounts due (which, for the avoidance of doubt, shall include engaging a debt collection agency to seek to recover the amounts due); and
(c) cease or suspend for such period as Computer Specialist Investigators thinks fit, supply of any further goods or services to the customer; and
(d) by notice in writing to the customer, terminate any contract or pre-paid labour package agreements with the customer so far as unperformed by Computer Specialist Investigators; without effect on the accrued rights of Computer Specialist Investigators under any contract.
6. Warranty
30 days service warranty is provided on laptops/desktops that Computer Specialist Investigators has repaired. 1 year parts warranty will be provided on all new parts sold by Computer Specialist Investigators. Computer Specialist Investigators makes no warranty on data, express or implied, and Computer Specialist Investigators disclaims any data warranty of any kind.
7. Appointments
A fair and reasonable amount of notice must be provided by the customer to cancel a pre-arranged appointment otherwise a fee of $55 inc GST will be incurred by the customer.


No fix - No Fee Policy
Our no fix no fee policy means that if the technician does not possess the necessary technical knowledge or ability to resolve the problem or effect the repair, then no charge is made to the customer.
If the technician is able to resolve the problem or effect the repair, but is only prevented from doing so by the customer requests the technician not to proceed with the work, then the customer is charged for the technician's time spent to that point.
If the technician is able to resolve the problem or affect the repair, but is only prevented from doing so because the customer does not possess the required software or Product Key, then the customer is charged for the technician's time spent to that point.
If the technician provides a clear and precise diagnosis of a failed component and the customer decides not to proceed with the replacement of the component, then the customer is charged for the technician's time spent to that point.
The policy does not apply to work related to data recovery, computer virus or spyware problems or to cases in which the computer has been struck by lightning. The policy does not apply to where a technician is prevented from repairing a customer’s issue because of external sources, for example, customer has no internet and after fault diagnosing and testing it is determined that the Internet Service Provider has current outages affecting customer’s internet.


Offsite Servicing Policy
Quotations are provided free providing the customer agrees to proceed with the work.
If the technician successfully diagnoses the problem and the customer decides not to proceed with the work a quoting charge will apply of $55 inc GST. An additional charge of $55 inc GST will be applicable to suburbs 30 kilometres from the CBD of Niddrie, Melbourne, Victoria 3042. This can be waived at the technician’s discretion.
Free pickup and delivery of computers is only available to suburbs 30 kilometres in distance from the CBD of Niddrie, Melbourne, Victoria 3042. A pickup and delivery fee of $55 inc GST will be applicable to customers who reside 30 kilometres from the CBD of Niddrie, Melbourne, Victoria 3042. This can be waived at the technician’s discretion.
